Course Description:
The course of Spanish 2 will continue strengthening the foundations of Spanish fundamental skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading. This course will provide a firm linguistic base, which is the foundation of effective communication. It will also develop an appreciation of the Spanish speaking world and its culture. It will provide the student the opportunity to practice their Spanish skills in the community. We will focus on the 5’Cs objectives for Foreign Language: Communication, Culture, Connection, Comparison and Communities.
Students that have taken Spanish 1 in another school and would like to take Spanish 2
can take a placement test before the beginning of school.
Tuition: $400 plus $50 one time materials fee
Class size: Minimum of 10 students
Required Materials
Teacher Qualifications: Señora Juárez is a bilingual English & Spanish speaker with a BS in Industrial Engineering from Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) in Mexico and a Foreign Language Teaching certificate from the University of Virginia. She taught Spanish at St. Joseph School (1st-8th grade) in Herndon for ten years and at Bishop O’Connell (Spanish 1- AP Spanish Language and Culture) for 6 before retiring. Currently she runs a private tutoring company at her home. She moderated several students’ clubs as The Hispanic Heritage Club and the Interact Club at DJO. She volunteered at LINK and Tin Cup Fun and Dibujando Sonrisas, an NPO in Monterrey, Mexico. Despite being afraid of heights, she ziplined next to the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica.
