Pre-requisite Course: Spanish 2. Students that have taken Spanish 2 in another school and would like to take this class, a placement test will be offered before the beginning of school.
Prerequisite Skills: A readiness to speak in Spanish, even if it is not perfect, and a desire to use the language for personal enjoyment and interaction. A proactive attitude towards seeking out resources (like Spanish media) and managing study habits, as 3 often moves at a faster pace than 1 and 2.

Course Description: The course of Spanish 3 will continue strengthening the foundations of Spanish fundamental skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading. This course will continue to provide a firm linguistic and grammatical base, which is the foundation of effective communication. It will also continue to develop an appreciation of the Spanish speaking world and its culture. It will provide the student the opportunity to practice their Spanish skills in class with weekly class presentations or videos. We will focus on the 5 Cs objectives for Foreign Language: Communication, Culture, Connection, Comparison and Communities.
Tuition: $400 plus $50 one time materials fee
Class size: Minimum of 6 students
Required Materials
Teacher Qualifications: Señora Juárez is a bilingual English & Spanish speaker with a BS in Industrial Engineering from Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) in Mexico and a Foreign Language Teaching certificate from the University of Virginia. She taught Spanish at St. Joseph School (1st-8th grade) in Herndon for ten years and at Bishop O’Connell (Spanish 1- AP Spanish Language and Culture) for 6 before retiring, She moderated several students’ clubs as The Hispanic Heritage Club and the Interact Club at DJO. Currently she runs a private tutoring company at her home.
